Volunteering or Becoming a Mentors for Youth Provide Rewards
Volunteers provide special services that money cannot buy. They are very special
community servants who offer their time and resources to the benefit of others.
ENS has seen and supported may volunteers who have pursued their passions for
service. We find that the experience and expertise of volunteers are best when
they service in areas of their natural passions or skill.
Close connections with caring adults can foster improvements in adolescents’
relationships with others. For example, volunteer mentoring relationships can
lead to improvements in teens’ perceptions of their relationships with their
parents in terms of intimacy, communication, and trust.
